Job description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join our Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) team as the L&OD Digital Project Manager at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. This fixed term role will focus on several key digital projects for 2025 which include fully utilising the functionality of our online learning platform, leading on the online learning aspect of the RSFT/SABP Temporary Staffing collaborative, supporting the national statutory and mandatory training review and a full review of suitability of our current CPD and professional online learning programmes.

You should have a proven track record in project delivery and digital leadership. Have strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and experience in building effective cross-team relationships.

Main duties of the job

Support the delivery of a high quality Learning and Organisational Development function across the Trust that can deliver the strategy through expert advice, relationships and partnering as well as through well designed products and processes.

  1. To provide a comprehensive technical systems support service to the learning and development function within the human resources directorate of the Trust, ensuring the smooth running and coordination of a range of learning and organisational development programmes which meet agreed corporate and directorate priorities and statutory regulatory requirements of staff employed across Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust.
  2. Lead on the day-to-day management of defined My Learning projects at all stages of the project life cycle.
  3. Continually review project support arrangements and make suggestions for improvement/further development.
  4. Support the Head of Learning & OD in the conduct of feasibility reviews required to develop robust business cases in support of IM&T project proposals.
  5. Provide effective leadership and communication to project staff/teams for projects being led/managed including appropriate specialist training where necessary.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for delivery of the following projects:

  1. Leading on the national review of Statutory and mandatory (ST&M) courses, working alongside RSFT, system and national colleagues to meet the national deadlines.
  2. Establish and chair the local St&M board as set out by the national review project.
  3. Leading on the support required for the collaborative bank (onboarding and governance of ST&M training for this staff group).
  4. Leading the function of creating in-house blended learning courses (using educational theory Blooms Taxonomy) on the My Learning (ML) platform through working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from inception to launch. This includes all quality assurance and reporting mechanisms.
  5. Work alongside the Leadership & Organisational Development Consultant & Specialist Trainer (LODCSL) to establish a robust evaluation process for in-house programmes.
  6. Work alongside the Leadership & Organisational Development Consultant & Specialist Trainer (LODCSL) to provide detailed and statistical analysis reports to provide qualitative and quantitative data and a detailed review of programmes to demonstrate return on investment and usage of programmes.

Qualifications
  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience and understanding of a project or programme management methodology including setting project objectives; determining project scope and deliverables; developing a robust project plan; risks and issues management and monitoring and reporting arrangements.
  • Must have experience of managing internal and external stakeholder engagement, including managing relationships and coordinating work between cross-functional teams.
  • Good computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products to produce, maintain and distribute documents including reports and presentations which may include regularly dealing with matters of a complex and confidential nature.
  • Good understanding of creating spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel including layout, presentation, pivot tables, lookups etc.
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team and reviewing performance of the individuals.
  • Effective and adaptable influencing and negotiation skills with senior stakeholders on difficult, detailed, complex and controversial issues.
