Overview

Are you a dynamic digital communications and marketing expert ready to make a significant impact in the life sciences and healthcare innovation sector? At Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley (HIOTV), we are seeking a passionate individual to join our Strategic and Industry Partnerships team and elevate our digital presence. You will report to the Head of Communications and Director of Strategic and Industry Partnerships. As the Digital Communications and Marketing Expert primarily within the Strategic and Industry Partnerships team at HIOTV, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our digital footprint across the life sciences and healthcare innovation sector.


You will lead digital marketing and communication efforts for our Industry and Innovation programmes, transforming how we connect with healthcare professionals, patients, NHS partners, and the life science and health etech sectors. You will craft compelling narratives, implement digital campaigns, and utilise the latest tools to enhance our brand\'s visibility and influence.



Responsibilities


  • Digital Strategy Development: Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive digital marketing strategies for our Industry and Innovation programmes.

  • Content Creation and Management: Develop engaging content for websites, social media, newsletters, and blogs.

  • Campaign Execution and Optimisation: Plan, execute, and monitor digital campaigns that communicate our programmes and initiatives.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Use digital analytics tools to track performance and prepare detailed reports on campaign success.

  • Brand and Reputation Management: Ensure all digital content aligns with HIOTV\'s brand values and objectives.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with the Head of Communications and other internal teams to align digital marketing with organisational goals; collaborate with external partners including NHS stakeholders, industry, research and other Health Innovation Networks.

  • Website and Online Presence: Coordinate and contribute to the development and maintenance of the HIOTV websites and online promotion following best practices.

  • Online Marketing Channels: Coordinate email marketing campaigns, content calendars, and social media presence; deliver regular reports on campaign performance.

  • Innovation and Improvement: Drive innovation in online marketing through analysis, testing, and timely delivery of campaigns.

  • General Marketing Excellence: Support and maintain marketing strategy, planning, and delivery to raise the profile of programmes; manage Marketing and CRM databases effectively.

Responsibilities (continued)


  • Coordinate and manage relevant sections of the main HIOTV websites.

  • Contribute to online presence development through innovative website and social media approaches.

  • Collaborate with third parties for website development including design and functionality; ensure best practices for HIOTV websites and online promotion.

  • Coordinate online marketing channels including segmented email campaigns and social media presence.

  • Deliver regular campaign performance reports and contribute to Board and Directorate reports.

  • Drive innovation in online marketing through analysis, testing and timely delivery of campaigns.

  • Ensure marketing strategy, planning, and delivery are effective and raise programme profiles.

  • Assist with Marketing and CRM database management.

  • Coordinate production of marketing materials such as brochures, newsletters, and e-mails.

  • Support and leadership of specific projects as agreed with the Head of Industry and Innovation, including: creation and maintenance of project initiation documents, regular progress meetings, monthly reports, and post-project evaluations.

  • Management of third-party contracts and senior staff within partner organisations (industry, academia, NHS). Manage complex stakeholder interactions.

  • Identify risks and issues, escalate as needed, and develop mitigation plans.

  • Build and maintain relationships with NHS organisations, universities, life sciences partners to support HIOTV objectives and stakeholder engagement.

  • External: Life Sciences industries and organisations; University academics and researchers; Knowledge and Technology Transfer Offices; NHS providers and commissioners; Accelerator Delivery Partners.



Requirements


  • Either a degree or equivalent experience in digital marketing (social media and websites), Prince2 qualification or equivalent; NHS communications experience is desirable.

  • Demonstrable and proven social media experience relevant to healthcare or related markets.

  • Experience delivering communications projects including stakeholder management, project design, and resource planning.

  • Experience working in a complex change environment with multiple stakeholders and securing engagement.

  • Autonomous working style with ability to meet objectives within defined parameters.



Desirable criteria


  • Experience of working with the life sciences industry; knowledge of grant funding streams.

  • Experience across organisational boundaries with diverse healthcare stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of online tracking technology such as Google Analytics; strong understanding of social media marketing channels.

  • Experience developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies and campaigns; website management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organisational and time management; problem solving; strategic thinking.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to analyse data, identify risks, and communicate insights.

  • Interest in healthcare policy and HIOTV objectives; confident to influence and negotiate with senior managers and contractors.

  • Team player who can persuade others to adopt new ways of working; able to work under pressure and handle confidential issues.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to cope with change; values collaboration and continuous learning.

  • Strong desire to improve performance and make a difference; organised, reliable, and results-focused.
