Job summary

Protolabs in the United Kingdom (Telford area) is seeking a Digital Manufacturing Designer I to generate injection moulding quotes and develop tool designs for prototyping and production. You will analyse 3D geometry in proprietary software to estimate costs and enhance manufacturability, collaborating with Go‑to‑Market and Operations teams across the product lifecycle from concept to production.

The role emphasizes CAD recommendations, tooling quotes, and maintaining quality and safety

Qualifications

Associate degree in CAD, Drafting or Design (preferred).
Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Manufacturing or Engineering (preferred).
Proficient in 3D CAD software.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Leverage manufacturing capabilities to provide best Injection Moulding solutions.
Produce detailed quotes for tooling, mould modifications and secondary operations.
Provide CAD recommendations to improve part manufacturability.
Develop gate and ejector layouts and perform Mouldflow.
Create Injection Mould designs from customer 3D models.
Create CNC machine tool instructions from the developed designs.
Develop CMM/CTQ programs and ISOWs based on customer-specified measurements.
Comply with all company quality and safety standards.
