Job summary

The University of Oxford’s Department of Chemistry is seeking a Communications and Digital Content Officer to support its communications initiatives and promote research and teaching to a range of audiences. The role focuses on translating complex scientific ideas into clear, engaging stories across the website, intranet, social media and print materials.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering communications across print, digital and social media.
• Excellent writing, editing and digital content skills.
• Experience producing and managing web and digital content; CMS and digital tools.
• Ability to translate complex scientific ideas into clear, engaging stories.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.
• Background in chemistry or related scientific discipline, or related qualification advantageous.
• Interest in AI and emerging digital technologies in communications would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop engaging written and multimedia content across website, intranet, social media and print.
• Research, write and edit a wide range of communication materials.
• Create and commission photography, video and interview content.
• Manage digital communications channels; ensure content is up to date and in line with branding and accessibility.
• Support media relations by identifying potential stories.
• Evaluate and improve communications activity using analytics.
