Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, digitally fluent self-starter to drive the National League’s digital content and communications. The League’s 72 clubs range from former EFL sides with large followings to community clubs on the rise, each with their own stories and supporters. You’ll have the freedom to shape how the League tells those stories, bring your own ideas and see them through, in a role with real room to grow.

Working closely with the Head of Digital & Broadcast, you will plan and produce the League’s content across the website, social channels and email, act as the first point of contact for the media, and work with Commercial, clubs and partners to make the most of what we do. You will work alongside our regular contributors, occasionally commission additional work, and use insight and data to decide where effort is best spent.

Content
  • Shape the League’s content strategy across the season, planning around key moments and where effort will have most impact
  • Run the League’s website content and social channels
  • Find and tell the League’s most compelling stories through features and interviews
  • Produce matchday content, short-form video and graphics
  • Deliver the weekly, monthly and seasonal awards, and email campaigns to supporters
  • Use analytics to shape content decisions and report on performance
Media and partners
  • Handle front-line media enquiries, press releases and statements, promote League announcements and support the League’s wider PR
  • Build relationships with the press and with clubs’ media teams
  • Support partner activation with Commercial, scheduling and publishing partner content across the League’s channels and distributing it to clubs
  • Report on partner content, providing performance figures and evidence of delivery
  • Support our broadcast partnership with DAZN and the League’s own live coverage of the National League Cup
Wider League and events
  • Cover the U19 Alliance and the National League Trust, and support campaigns such as 3UP
  • Deliver content for the Promotion Finals at Wembley (programmes, accreditation, matchday content) and League events such as the AGM and end-of-season awards
Platforms and admin
  • Operate the League’s website CMS, social scheduling, digital asset and video platforms, analytics and internal tools
  • Keep media admin in order, including accounts, requests, monthly reporting and circulating matchday data provider contacts to clubs
  • Organised and self-motivated; sees work through without being chased
  • Strong, accurate writing, including features or interviews built on original quotes
  • Strategic and analytical; uses data and insight to decide what to do and why
  • Edits short-form video for social
  • Produces social graphics using templates and design tools
  • Confident with website CMSs, social scheduling tools (e.g. Hootsuite) and analytics, and comfortable using AI tools
  • Good knowledge of English football and a genuine interest in the non-league game
  • Sound judgement on tone, timing and channel, and knows when to upscale
  • Handles competing requests calmly with colleagues and clubs
