Job description

Job Title: Digital Archives Supervisor

Reporting to the Archives Manager, the Digital Archives Supervisor will:

  1. Assist in overseeing the implementation of ADS policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure all data are managed according to best archival and curatorial practices.
  3. Lead in developing policy and procedures for data from the Heritage Science and Conservation Research (HSCR) domains.
  4. Work on digital archives, including high-profile and complex projects.
  5. Support the Collections Development Manager to ensure team efficiency and project deadline adherence.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed
  • Experience working in a digital preservation environment with various data types and formats.
  • Knowledge of digital preservation approaches, information management, data standards, OAIS, metadata standards, schemas, and FAIR principles.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising a small team.
  • Ability to write reports and documentation.
  • Advanced digital skills, e.g., GIS or digital imaging.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of UK archaeology, conservation, or heritage science sectors is desirable but not essential.
