Job summary

Network Plus is seeking a Dig Agent to supervise digging teams under the United Utilities contract in Worsley. This permanent role offers a salary of £30,000 - £45,000 per year and a focus on safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

You will lead, coordinate resources, ensure quality, and maintain programmes with the scheduling team. NRWSA supervisory level is desirable, IOSH knowledge beneficial, and a full UK driving licence required.

Qualifications

  • NRWSA supervisory qualification or equivalent is required.
  • IOSH knowledge is beneficial.
  • Strong emphasis on right-first-time delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Valid UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee digging teams and in-day activities.

Dig Agent

Department: United Utilities

Location: Worsley

Compensation: £30,000 - £45,000 / year

Description

As a digging agent/supervisor you will be responsible for supervising digging teams working as part of the United Utilities contract. Working to meet the needs of the client in the most cost-effective manner, whilst working with your team and making a profit for Network Plus. You will provide technical expertise, experience, and work within a team to deliver a first-class service to our customers.

As a supervisor will be competent on working in Water Networks. You will be able to engineer solutions on site and focus your teams on completing work right first time.

You will work with the scheduling team ensuring programmes are managed and delivered accordingly. You will provide support to ensure that the company’s work is effectively completed through communication with internal and external customers, as well as the management of the business and client database systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will have operational responsibility for the digging teams and their in-day activities
  • You will organise labour in the most cost-effective way, including recruitment, disciplinary action, wages, and absence management
  • You will manage all other resources e.g., materials and plant
  • You will carry out team briefings with teams monthly
  • You will coach and develop staff to reach their potential; ensuring a fair and consistent culture with the teams
  • You will help manage the frame and cover programme and ensure KPIs are met
  • You will help manage the defect programme and ensure that KPIs are met, and Highway Meetings are attended
  • You will use GARD (smartphone system) to check quality of the work and drive out the wrong behaviours
  • You will liaise with the Support Services and Street works Team to ensure that FPN and Section74 liabilities are managed
  • You will complete Team Inspections, to ensure a high level of Compliance with a real focus on quality and first-time reinstatement
  • You will be a Health & Safety Representative, which will include undertaking health & safety inspections in and around the workplace, raising health & safety related matters with management and investigating reportable accidents or incidents as and when they occur
Experience and Qualifications
  • Relevant qualifications in relation to the work being carried out i.e., NRWSA at supervisory level
  • Good Health and safety knowledge IOSH beneficial (not essential)
  • Firm understanding of "right first time"
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence

  • EUSR Blue Card
  • Avoidance of underground utilities
