A regional healthcare provider in Bristol seeks an experienced Dietitian to support inpatient and outpatient services, particularly in gastroenterology and liver disease. Responsibilities include providing nutritional support, conducting liver clinics, and liaising with healthcare teams. Ideal candidates will have Band 5 Dietetic experience within the NHS and a strong interest in this specialty. This role offers competitive salary and development opportunities.
We are looking for an experienced Dietitian with knowledge of complex nutrition support in Hepatology and Gastroenterology to support inpatient and outpatient work in North Bristol NHS Trust (Southmead Hospital).
The job involves a weekly (Thursday) Consultant lead Liver clinic and working alongside the Band 7 Gastroenterology Dietitian lead to support data collection as part of a dietetic liver project.Experience of audit and quality improvement is desirable but would be of benefit to help undertake data collection.
The other part of the role includes providing dietetic cover to the busy acute inpatient gastroenterology ward, seeing patients with many clinical conditions like; IBD, gastroparesis, hematology and hepatology. There will occasionally be the need for providing support to the eating disorders patients on this ward.
We are a large teaching hospital and take students for their A, B and C placements from Plymouth University (BSc) and Birmingham City University (MSc). Experience of supporting students is essential.
We encourage and support CPD within the department and provide in house and external opportunities for training to undertake this role.

Provide dietetic cover to the gastroenterology ward - involving oral nutritional support, enteral feeding, this patient group includes IBD, hepatology and potential to cover some eating disorders work in times of AL or staff shortages.
This post will also include a once weekly specialist consultant lead liver clinic.
Contribute towards department audit related to this role.
To deliver group education sessions and training on nutrition-related topics, to a range of health professionals and patients.
Assist the department with training student dietitians.
To contribute to the implementation of the Trust Nutrition and Hydration strategy.

To provide and develop an effective and evidence-based dietetic service to medical gastroenterology and potential to support eating disorder patients.
To take one Liver clinics per week supporting patients with liver specific diagnoses.
This includes:
providing expert advice to patients, carers and clinicians (both within NBT and areas served by the specialist units) about the most effective nutritional treatment
ensuring special diets and artificial nutrition meet or exceed nutrient requirements despite significant dietary or medical restrictions
liaising with members of the health care team in hospital and in the community to ensure they are fully informed and able to support the patient in implementing the appropriate nutritional prescription / management for their condition.
