Job summary

East Kent Hospitals is seeking a Dietitian (Band 5) to join an expanding team providing care for vascular, urology and elderly patients. You will work alongside Specialist Dietitians and contribute to service development and MUST screening initiatives.

The role offers opportunities to shape care pathways and develop professional skills within a supportive trust environment, with emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration and quality improvement.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Post-graduate Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Registered, or due to obtain registration, with the HCPC.
  • BDA membership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a designated caseload of patients with diverse and complex dietetic needs.
  • Develop individualised holistic care plans addressing nutritional status, weight, dietary modifications, lifestyle factors, behaviour change, education and physical activity.
  • Support patient care through implementation of dietetic care pathways.
  • Act as source of nutrition expertise for medical staff, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust.

Job description

Are you soon to qualify as a Dietitian or are you a Band 5 looking to gain more experience? We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and with excellent communication and team working skills. This position is part of an expanding team with an opportunity to help shape the future service provision.

You will benefit from working alongside Specialist Dietitians with expertise in a range of specialities while providing care for vascular, urology, and elderly patients. You will also gain experience in supporting food policy initiatives, promoting MUST screening and service development.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage a designated caseload of patients who may have divers and complex dietetic needs.
  • Develop individualised holistic care plans which addresses nutritional status, weight, recommended dietary modifications, lifestyle factors, behaviour change, education, physical activity and where appropriate condition management.
  • Support patient care through implementation of dietetic care pathways.
  • Act as source of expertise in nutrition for medical staff, nursing staff and other healthcare professional.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust

Qualifications and training
  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Post - graduate Diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Registered, or due to obtain registration, with the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council).
  • BDA membership
Knowledge and experience
  • Experience of managing patients with nutritional support requirements including enteral nutrition in an acute setting
  • Evidence of working as part of a team
  • Current knowledge of enteral feeding systems and oral nutrition support
  • Previous Band 5 experience
  • Experience of audit/data collection
