Job summary

NHS Highland is seeking a Dietetic Support Worker to support the Community Dietetic team across Fort William and Wester Ross. The role is permanent, 22.3 hours per week, working with Dietitians to deliver nutritional care to adults in outpatient settings, homes and care facilities.

You will assist with planning, record keeping and CPD while supporting service delivery and patient education. Strong communication and empathy are essential.

Qualifications

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Dietetic Support Worker to work with the Nutrition & Dietetic Service. You will work with the Community Dietetic team supporting the Dietitians who work in Fort William, Wester Ross and sometimes supporting the wider team as required. This post is permanent 22.3hrs per week.

You will provide a service to adults attending outpatient clinics, living in their own homes or care homes and with inpatients in Community Hospitals. Workload is varied and would include supporting Dietitians to assess, modify and adapt nutritional care plans for people who require support e.g.; malnutrition; swallowing problems; dementia, supporting record keeping and other tasks to support clinical service delivery.

The Community Dietetic Department trains student Dietitians and you will participate in the practice based learning element.

The service is committed to supporting staff growth and development and there are plenty of opportunities for learning, clinical supervision and CPD. The team actively participate in annual appraisals, peer support and training opportunities to further develop clinical and personal skills.

We would welcome applications from Health Care Support Workers (or similar) with experience working with patients, carers and committed to working as part of a dedicated team to deliver safe quality care. You will be a good communicator with empathy, patience and sense of humour.

You will work alongside the Admin team lead to assist in the smooth and efficient running of the department and complete tasks such as diary management, nutritional analysis, booking patient appointments, ordering supplies and developing patient/training materials.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for this role.
