Job summary

Virginia State University seeks a qualified Dietetic Internship Director for a 12-month faculty appointment. The DI Director leads the Dietetic Internship program, teaches DI courses and 1–2 undergraduate courses, and ensures program quality per ACEND standards.

The Director oversees accreditation, policy development, student recruitment and advisement, and coordination with faculty and preceptors, while supporting service activities across the university and community.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or closely related field; Master’s if degree not in field.
• Must be an RD or RDN credentialed by CDR.
• Demonstrated college teaching experience and ability to work with diverse students; teaching, scholarship and research background.
• Experience with ACEND-accredited programs or supervised practice education.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer literacy and technology skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as required.
• VSU credentialing policy compliance per Faculty Credentialing Policy #2301.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Dietetic Internship program and oversee all program activities.
• Teach Dietetic Internship courses and 1–2 undergraduate courses.
• Ensure ACEND accreditation compliance; maintain records and documentation for graduates’ eligibility for the CDR exam.
• Plan and evaluate the program; develop policies and procedures; recruit, advise, evaluate, and counsel students.
• Coordinate with faculty and preceptors; maintain accreditation standards and records.
• Engage in service at department, college, and university levels and promote the program.
• Support recruitment events and contribute to student and faculty life.
• Engage in other duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson.
