Job summary

Bere Clinic in Waterlooville is seeking a Dietetic Assistant to support the dietitian in delivering specialist eating disorder care to children and young people. You will work 37.5 hours per week, assisting with therapeutic interventions, collecting baseline nutritional data, and reviewing young people's nutritional needs.

You will help prepare information for individuals and groups, participate in training sessions, and contribute to reports on progression.

Qualifications

  • Experience in CAMHS or eating disorder services.
  • Certificate or diploma in healthcare support as listed.
  • Associate member of the British Dietetic Association.
  • Basic understanding of nutrition related to eating disorders.
  • Understanding mental health needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and participate in planning and facilitation of training sessions and group work.
  • Collect data for audit or research and record information accurately.
  • Promote healthy eating to young people within a nutrition education framework.
  • Ensure documentation for safe discharge with appropriate follow-up.

Job description

As you work 37.5 hours a week, you will join a team that provides specialist eating disorder care and support to children and young people in Waterlooville. You will work under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian, which will see you take responsibility for supporting the day-to-day duties, including providing support for therapeutic interventions, collecting and monitoring baseline nutritional data and reviewing the young persons' nutritional needs. As a Dietetic Assistant, you will participate in the preparation and updating of information and resources for individuals and groups, which will see you review young peoples compliance with nutritional advice, dietary preference and intake and provide reports on their progression. You will be a part of an environment where there is a strong emphasis on teamwork and CPD, where you will have continuous access to a range of training opportunities to move your career forward. Other responsibilities:

  • Assist and participate in the planning and facilitation of a range of training sessions and group work
  • Collect data for audit or research purposes and record information accurately
  • Promote healthy eating to young people within a nutrition education framework
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is in place for a safe discharge, including appropriate follow-up

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience of working within a CAMHS and/or eating disorder service
  • The NCFE CACHE level 2 Certificate in Healthcare Support Services OR The NCFE CACHE level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support
  • Associate member of the British Dietetic Association
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of nutrition and dietetics as it relates to eating disorders
  • An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities
  • Theoretical knowledge of Eating Disorders

Bere Clinic is a 12 bed Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) to support young people aged 12-18 with eating disorders. With an onsite school providing educational services while the young people are in our care and full multidisciplinary team, it’s a great opportunity to be part of something new and help shape its future.
