Job summary

First Military Recruitment is partnering with a client to recruit a Generator Workshop Engineer in Bristol. You will service, diagnose, and repair diesel generators, ensuring high standards of safety and customer service while supporting the South West operation.

The role involves planned servicing, fault diagnosis, and working both independently and as part of a team, with progression opportunities and a benefits package. Training and overtime available.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, Plant Maintenance, or similar (City & Guilds/BTEC) or completed apprenticeship.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing generator sets (FG Wilson, Cummins or similar).
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• CSCS/ECS/CCNSG desirable but not essential; training available.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing and preventive maintenance on diesel generators.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs on rental generators; ensure issues are resolved efficiently.
• Maintain high health and safety standards in the workshop and work areas.
• Comply with quality, environmental, energy management and health & safety procedures.
• Deliver excellent customer service and build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the engineering team's success.
