Diesel Fitter/Mechanic - Albans / Mobile

Highly competitive rate of up to £23 per hour, depending on experience, plus van, fuel card, etc.

Our client is a leading family-run plant hire and haulage firm looking to add 2 Diesel Fitters to their expanding team. The role will be based at their St Albans site but will mainly involve mobile work.

Responsibilities:

1. Undertake correct and regular maintenance and calibration of all equipment as per instructions.
2. Perform maintenance on fleet as qualified and directed.
3. Provide details of engine hours worked for each piece of plant.
4. Conduct routine testing of safety-critical systems and equipment.
5. Inspect civils plant and equipment regularly.
6. Maintain comprehensive records, both electronically and in hard copy, for each vehicle and piece of equipment.
7. Inspect and maintain lifting accessories.
8. Provide on-site fitter cover as needed.

Requirements:

• Experience with heavy plant machinery.
• Good mechanical engineering skills.
• Qualified or time-served diesel fitter.
• Responsible, accountable, and methodical with excellent attention to detail.
• Team player with a current driving licence.
• Physically fit and able to operate machinery and attachments.
• Knowledge of relevant rules, regulations, and safety requirements for plant and equipment.

Licensing/Certification:

• Valid Driver's Licence (required).
