Job description
Overview

An opportunity for a full time Band 6 Radiographer based at West Berkshire Community Hospital in Newbury, part of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will work as part of the Community Imaging Team providing an effective Plain film and CT service. West Berkshire Community Hospital has been designated as a Community Diagnostic Hub with investment to upgrade General Xray equipment and install a Cone Beam CT Unit. The department provides Plain film and CT imaging for walk-in GP referrals, inpatients/outpatients, and supports the Minor Injury Unit. The post holder will participate in departmental shift and weekend rotas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an excellent standard of radiographic imaging and quality of patient care.
  • Act as a role model for the profession and participate in supervision, training and support of more junior staff.
  • Exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries and prioritise/organise own work activities in response to clinical and service needs.
  • Provide imaging support primarily at the Radiology Department of WBCH, including support to the WBCH Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), outpatient clinics and wards, and to local GPs.
  • Participate in the provision of an out-of-hours service, including evening and weekend work.
Qualifications and Experience
  • State registered radiographer.
  • Degree in radiography or DCR(R) as equivalent.
  • Current CPD activity showing competence and autonomy appropriate to a Band 6 role.
Location and Context

The post is based primarily at the Radiology Department, West Berkshire Community Hospital. It supports imaging for UTC and related services within WBCH and the local community.
