A top-performing NHS trust in England is seeking a skilled Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join their Maternity Diabetes Specialist Service. This role focuses on providing comprehensive diabetes care to pregnant women and requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be a registered first-level nurse with extensive knowledge of diabetes management. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient care and wellbeing.
The post holder will be part of the Maternity Diabetes Specialist Service, providing diabetes care and management to pregnant women/people and their families.
This is a dynamic role that requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to address a range of care needs for women/people with diabetes in pregnancy. The role has a special focus on insulin pump therapy for Type 1 diabetes and gestational diabetes, aiming to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and improve the health and wellbeing of women and their babies.
The candidate must be competent and appropriate to the requirements of the role of Diabetes Specialist Nurse. They should demonstrate the Trust values at all times.
The post holder must be a registered first-level nurse with current NMC registration, possessing detailed professional and clinical knowledge. They should be a specialist practitioner with a focus on diabetes care and good knowledge of technological advances in diabetes management.
The role involves responsibility for a defined population of service users across various settings within the Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust. This position is based at the West Middlesex Site and is not cross-site.

The successful candidate will be skilled in assessing complex and specialist care/support needs and in developing, implementing, and evaluating care/support packages. They will have supervisory, training, and leadership responsibilities where appropriate, with some responsibility for team performance and service development/improvement. The role requires initiative and creativity in problem-solving and involves working with the team leader to undertake delegated tasks in team management.
