A leading NHS trust in London seeks an experienced band 7 Specialist Nurse to provide exceptional inpatient and outpatient diabetes care. Job summary: We are looking for an experienced band 7 Specialist Nurse to join our Diabetes and Endocrine team, to provide excellent inpatient/outpatient diabetes care cross site and cover the Virtual wards.
The Diabetes Nurse Specialist provides expertise in all aspects of diabetes care provision. This would involve delivering excellent diabetes care to individuals and patient groups as a component of the patients' care management, in collaboration with the wider multi-professional healthcare team, as well as being a provider of excellent nurse teaching and ward education.

Working autonomously whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary diabetes team assessing and managing a caseload of diabetes patients maintaining effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure seamless service delivery.
Provide expert knowledge of diabetes and work within an agreed job plan to meet diabetes service needs. This should include expert knowledge, understanding and competency in the use of insulin pumps and insulin pump therapy, insulin administration, all diabetes treatments, as well as monitoring devices including continuous blood glucose monitors.
Undertake nurse-led diabetes clinics, conducting and interpreting relevant tests and investigations.
Work in collaboration with the multi professional diabetes team, supporting medical review clinics, contributing expert, evidence based diabetes knowledge and skills. This should include participating in the joint obstetric/diabetes antenatal clinic to provide diabetes to pregnant women who have pre-existing or gestational diabetes. The consultant led insulin pump clinic and medical review clinics.
