Job summary

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a 12-month secondment within the diabetes specialist nursing team. The post focuses on assessing diabetes patients' care needs at the front door or in the diabetes and endocrine centre, and shaping services with the multidisciplinary team.

The role involves building diabetes teaching for patients and staff and suits a senior nurse with recent diabetes experience in an acute setting. First level NMC registration is required.

Qualifications

• Evidence of a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing.
• Educated to diploma level, or evidence of experience operating at this level.
• Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification.
• Diabetes qualification (university accredited), or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support consultants and broader Trust staff in management, care and education of diabetes patients.
• Assess diabetes patients' care needs at the front door or in the diabetes and endocrine centre.
• Develop and implement service delivery with multidisciplinary team members per protocols and pathways.
• Contribute to developing specialist diabetes teaching packages for patients, nursing and non-nursing staff.
• Support the Lead Nurse, Matron and Medical Head of Service in developing and monitoring diabetes services and the quality of care.
