Job summary

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Diabetes and Obesity Nurse Educator to develop and deliver education and training packages for Diabetes, Obesity, Safe prescribing and monitoring of GLP-1 therapies across Primary and Secondary Care.

The post holder will plan induction for new DSNs, monitor progress, collect data, run audits, and work with Diabetes MDT, Bariatric MDT and Surgical MDT to improve patient outcomes and staff competence.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering education and training in diabetes and obesity.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing services for patients with diabetes as part of the Diabetes-Obesity team and contribute to improving staff competence.
• Attend regular diabetes-obesity training and updates to maintain highly specialist knowledge.
• Plan and coordinate mandatory training; maintain accurate records of staff progress and development.
• Develop and deliver education packages on Diabetes, Obesity, Safe prescribing and GLP-1 monitoring.
• Link with CHFT clinical educators to provide training to CHFT nursing staff and new starters.
• Produce competency documents and sign-off protocols as staff demonstrate proficiency.
