A rare and exciting opportunity has come about for a full time band 6 diabetes nurse specialists to join our dedicated nursing team. You will be supported by an experienced set of clinical nurse specialists and a specialist medical team.
Experience of managing patients with diabetes will be beneficial and you will be given specialist training and guidance to develop your skills within this niche area of nursing.
An informal visit to meet the team is strongly advised.
With our incredibly hard working and experienced team of diabetes nurse specialists our team comprises of band 7s band 6s and some band 5s and HCA's to oversee and deliver the diabetes services to NUH. The different range of job roles within the diabetes team is vast: From patient and staff education, to supporting newly diagnosed diabetic patients, pump training, DKA management and specialist advise to inpatient areas to also supporting the diabetic foot clinic at Dundee house.
These posts will require the successful candidates to work cross site between QMC and City campus.
You will also be required to work across all areas within diabetes such as: Young adult clinic, pump clinic, inpatient services, outpatient clinics, dundee house, pancreatectomy clinic and this role will also include community work.

You will be provided with the specialist training to become a DSN (Diabetes Specialist Nurse) you will be given supernumery time and have the opportunity to shadow senior diabetes nurses to gain knowledge, improve your clinical and assessment skills. You will be a forward thinking dynamic individual who strikes to deliver the best possible service for our patients. No two days are the same and you will be working within a supportive environment with different members of the MDT teams such as specialist doctors, dieticians, phycologists and unregistered staff.
