Job summary

The post holder will work closely with the diabetic maternity services to provide care to women with diabetes in pregnancy and the postnatal period, in midwife led and consultant led clinics, with an evidence-based approach.

You will also offer education on gestational diabetes, support insulin administration education, contribute to audits, and help develop diabetes care pathways and guidelines within the maternity directorate.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering diabetes care in maternity settings.
• Ability to educate patients and families about diabetes management.
• Strong communication and teamwork within MDT.

Responsibilities

• Support Diabetes Specialist Midwives delivering diabetes care in clinics and across the maternity directorate.
• Provide education and support to women newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes and arrange follow-up.
• Assist with safe insulin administration education for patients.
• Support MDT training and development in diabetes care.
• Maintain clinical skills through mandatory training and reflect evidence-based practice.
