Job summary

Bumper is seeking a DevOps/SRE Engineer to join our Hybrid Sheffield team. You’ll help shape reliability, scalability and observability of our cloud-native platform, building, deploying and monitoring systems across AWS/Azure.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, lead incident response, and drive automation to reduce toil while fostering a strong SRE culture. This role requires strong communication and a passion for resilient architectures.

Qualifications

• Proven DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineer background.
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes in production.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
• Terraform and IaC automation experience.
• Incident management and on-call experience.
• Monitoring, alerting and observability expertise.
• Ability to diagnose and fix complex distributed systems issues.
• Experience using GenAI tools in engineering workflows.
• Excellent communication and calmness under pressure.
• Passion for automation and reducing toil.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.

A bit about the role...

We’re looking for a DevOps / SRE Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll help shape and strengthen the reliability, scalability and observability of our cloud‑native platform. You’ll work across the business to improve how we build, deploy and monitor our systems, while playing a key role in incident response and continuous improvement.

You’ll report directly to our Chief Technology Officer and will collaborate closely with engineers across Bumper to build a high‑performance, well‑monitored, developer‑friendly platform — and you’ll be a key voice in building a strong SRE and DevOps culture across the team.

This is a full-time hybrid-role, based in our Sheffield Office, at least 3 days a week.

What we are looking for in you…

• Proven experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles


• Strong hands‑on experience running Kubernetes in production


• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms


• Solid experience with Terraform and IaC automation


• Experience participating in or managing production incidents and on‑call


• Strong grasp of monitoring, alerting, and observability principles


• Ability to diagnose and fix complex distributed systems issues


• Demonstrated use of GenAI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude) in engineering workflows


• Excellent communication and calmness under pressure


• A passion for automation and reducing toil

Nice to haves...

• Experience with Grafana Cloud, IRM or other incident management tools


• Familiarity with Argo Workflows / ArgoCD


• Experience defining SLIs/SLOs at scale


• Background in Platform Engineering


• Experience improving or redesigning incident management processes

• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed best practices and improve developer experience


• Contribute to automation, tooling, and continuous improvements that reduce toil and increase platform resilience
