B4B Payments - A Banking Circle Group Company is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer in London to advance our cloud platform and payments infrastructure. You’ll ensure secure, scalable, and highly automated systems within a regulated fintech setting.

You’ll influence engineering standards, cloud architecture, platform strategy, and DevOps best practices across APIs-driven payments infrastructure. AI-assisted engineering is central to the role.

About the Role

We\'re seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to play a key role in the evolution of our cloud platform and payments infrastructure. Working within a highly regulated fintech environment, you\'ll be responsible for ensuring our platforms are secure, scalable, resilient and highly automated.

This position offers the opportunity to influence engineering standards, cloud architecture, platform strategy and DevOps best practices across a business delivering API-driven payment and card solutions. B4B is implementing an API-first payments platform supporting cards, accounts, payments, FX, webhooks and OAuth-secured integrations.

We\'ve fully embraced AI-assisted engineering across the team, and we\'re looking for people who want to push that further, not someone who merely tolerates it.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

What you\'ll be doing

• Own and evolve cloud infrastructure across production and non-production environments
• Integrate AI tooling into daily engineering workflows (code, infrastructure, incident response) as a default way of working
• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code standards
• Build and optimise scalable CI/CD pipelines to accelerate software delivery
• Drive platform reliability, observability and operational excellence
• Collaborate with Software Engineers to deliver resilient solutions
• Champion DevOps culture, automation and engineering best practices
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis and platform improvements
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting frameworks to support critical applications
• Ensure infrastructure meets security, governance and compliance requirements
• Support business continuity, disaster recovery and high-availability initiatives
• Mentor engineers on cloud, automation and DevOps practices

Technical environment

You are likely to have experience across several of the following:

• Kubernetes or ECS
• Terraform
• GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI or Jenkins
• MySQL, MariaDB or postgreSQL
• Python, Bash or PowerShell
• Prometheus, Grafana, Cloudwatch or similar monitoring tools
• Microservices and distributed systems
• API-driven platforms
• Security and IAM best practices

What we\'re looking for

• Genuine, demonstrated enthusiasm for AI-assisted engineering - daily use of tools like Claude Code, Copilot or equivalent as a core part of how you work, not a checkbox. This is not a role for someone skeptical of AI tooling or resistant to changing how they work
• Significant experience in a Senior DevOps, Platform Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering role
• Deep expertise in public cloud infrastructure
• Strong Kubernetes and containerisation experience
• Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar
• Experience designing and maintaining enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of networking, security and cloud architecture
• Track record of improving reliability, scalability and operational performance
• Ability to work closely with development teams to improve engineering velocity

Highly desirable

• Experience with PCI-DSS, SOC2 or similar regulatory frameworks
• Experience within fintech, payments, banking or other regulated industries
• Exposure to payment processing, card issuing or financial services technology - card and payment infrastructure supporting payment rails such as Faster Payments, SEPA, SWIFT and ACH
• Experience supporting high-volume transaction platforms
• Experience with event-driven architectures and API platforms
