Job summary

Intermedia Intelligent Communications is seeking a proactive DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and operate Linux-based infrastructure at scale. The role emphasizes automation, collaboration across a multinational team, and production-grade deployment practices.

The position is primarily remote with occasional visits to the Bristol or London offices. You will work on building automation pipelines, monitoring, and incident response to keep services reliable and efficient.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of DevOps engineering or related field.
• Strong Linux command-line experience.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Chef or equivalent).
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
• Solid networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/UDP, firewalls, load balancers).
• Knowledge of security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and maintain application infrastructure in collaboration with DevOps and development teams.
• Develop and support tooling to streamline deployment and maintenance.
• Deploy applications from development to production using GitHub, Jenkins, and Chef.
• Support in-house and third‑party applications, including deployments and troubleshooting.
• Build and manage automation pipelines for deployment and maintenance.
• Manage Linux servers via the command line.
• Create monitoring dashboards and alerts with Grafana, Prometheus, and Alertmanager.
• Document processes and best practices clearly.
• Participate in on-call incident resolution.

About the Role:

We are looking for a proactive and eager DevOps Engineer with experience in building, maintaining, and operating Linux based infrastructure at scale. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for automation and efficiency and thrives in a collaborative multi-national environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Collaborate closely with fellow devops engineers and the development team to deploy and maintain application infrastructure.
• Assist in the development and support of tooling to streamline the deployment and maintenance of our products.
• Work with Github, Jenkins, and Chef to deploy applications from development through to production environments.
• Support both in-house and third-party applications, including handling deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Build and manage automation pipelines for application deployment and maintenance.
• Engage in the day-to-day management of Linux servers via the command line
• Create monitoring dashboards and alerts in Grafana leveraging Prometheus and Alertmanager.
• Document processes and best practices clearly and concisely.
• Participate in incident solving on-call rotation.

What You Will Bring to the Role

• 2+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the Linux operating system and comfort working at the command line.
• Experience with using Chef or other configuration management tools to automate the creation and maintenance of servers and applications.
• Ability to design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Github Actions, and Jenkins.
• Solid understanding of networking principles, including DNS, TCP/UDP, firewalls, and load balancers.
• A willingness to dive into both complex systems and more routine tasks, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
• A foundational understanding of security best practices.
• Proficiency with scripting languages like Bash, Ruby, Python, or Go.
