The Role:

Due to growth within UK programmes, we will need talented DevOps Engineers throughout 2024.

Duties include participating in daily scrums, performing software requirements analysis, risk identification, risk mitigation, and collaboration across Agile teams. Cross-training to provide systems engineering, software development, training, security, and testing is also desired.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, create, and maintain databases in a client/server environment.
  • Plan and execute migration of databases and associated data from physical/IaaS to virtual AWS instances.
  • Configure databases for optimal performance, resilience, replication, reporting, administration, data backup, and archiving.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex databases considering SQL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, security, documentation, and statistics.
  • Apply knowledge of database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end (e.g., COGNOS) / back-end programming languages (e.g., SQL). Perform database programming and support systems design.
  • Contribute to runbooks for database maintenance, monitoring standards, file design, storage, and system integration.
  • Align with Leidos delivery standards and suggest improvements.

What does Leidos need from me:

  • Software engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience with AWS Services, Jira, Confluence, TestRail, SonarQube, Robot, Python, Bitbucket, Jenkins, TerraForm, Ansible, Unix bash scripting, and understanding of SDLC.
  • Experience translating user stories into engineering deliverables and documentation.
  • Experience with systems software development, deployment across environments, and GitFlow.
  • Experience with automated build, test, and deploy processes.
  • Experience with AWS, SME (Wintel / Unix / Virtualised Networking / Monitoring / Security).
  • Experience with SAFe methodology.
  • Collaborative, self-starting attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet milestones.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and interpersonal.
  • Must be a UK Citizen and based in the UK.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, UK SC Clearance.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Clearance to Start BPSS.
  • Clearance for Role SC.
  • Willingness to undergo SC or DV clearance depending on role security needs.
