The Company

Our client is a market leading UK HQ'd SaaS company and part of a highly successful Australian SaaS Technology firm growing their presence in the UK. They are also PE backed and undergoing huge investment and growth.

The SaaS business offers software solutions that revolutionise the way businesses manage their employee rosters and schedules, providing significant value to sectors including retail, entertainment, and hospitality. In addition, they empower employees to better manage their work life balance.

The unique AI/ML technology is reinventing how employees are scheduled by helping organisations ditch manual paper & excel based methods in favour of sleek, intelligent, and interactive digital rotas.

Due to exciting significant growth and demand for their products, they are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer.

The DevOps Engineer role:

  • We’re looking for someone who will work closely with our Tech team to build the future of digital workforce scheduling.
  • We are focused on developing services and microservices that communicate through clean interface layers to deliver a stable and agile scheduling platform.
  • You have the flexibility to work on web apps, mobile apps, integrations, and API development.
  • The company utilises Azure and AWS and have multiple production and test environments. We’re very keen on automating infrastructure creation and changes to infrastructure alongside deployments to the platform.

As a DevOps engineer you will be managing and maintaining the infrastructure and the deployment pipelines.

  • We release to production multiple times a day, so automation is really important to us.
  • We’re a little obsessive about using the most appropriate tech to solve our problems, so there’s always an opportunity to learn new skills.
  • Our front-end was recently rebuilt using React. In the back-end we use a mix of NoSQL and SQL depending on the use case.
  • We’re in the process of moving to asynchronous messaging-based architecture so there’s a real opportunity to get involved in architecture design.

What we expect from our Engineers:

  • You write clean, maintainable and well-structured code using OO and SOLID Principles.
  • You will contribute towards building our architecture.
  • You’re comfortable suggesting new and brave ideas, technologies and ways of working.
  • You actively use AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and Copilot, using them to boost productivity, improve quality, and accelerate delivery… not as gimmicks, but as a part of modern engineering workflow.
  • You thrive in an agile, collaborative environment, contributing to short feedback loops and continuous improvement.
  • You are comfortable working with a range of different technologies and platforms and can and can research the best solutions to help drive our platform.
  • When things go wrong, you roll up your sleeves and help solve problems fast.

Your day to day responsibilities as a DevOps Engineer:

  • Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS, using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) to build, manage, and scale environments with confidence.
  • Champion DevOps culture across the company, from tighter feedback loops to better observability, you'll help us ship faster and smarter.
  • Lead the way on AI/GenAI tooling, helping the team adopt tools like Copilot, GPT, and others where they drive real impact.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that are fast, reliable, and fully automated. We release to production daily, and your work makes that happen.
  • Protect and scale the platform, ensuring it’s secure, performant, and built to handle the demands of a fast-growing customer base.
  • Instrument everything, from smart monitoring and alerting to clear, actionable logs and metrics.
  • Document the essentials, complex doesn’t have to mean confusing, and you’ll help keep our processes clear and usable.
  • Estimate realistically, and deliver predictably, we trust our engineers to scope and own their work.

As the ideal candidate, you need to…

  • Have strong experience creating and managing infrastructure as code using Terraform, including writing and maintaining Terraform modules.
  • Experience with Terragrunt or managing complex, multi-environment Terraform setups is highly desirable.
  • Be comfortable using tools like PowerShell and the Azure / AWS CLI.
  • Be comfortable working in both Windows and Linux environments, including troubleshooting, scripting, and deploying applications across both OS platforms.
  • Have hands-on experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes, including deploying, managing, and troubleshooting workloads in production.
  • Have working knowledge of both Microsoft Azure and AWS its administration.
  • Have experience configuring CI/CD systems.
  • We use Github Actions, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, and Azure Devops. Any experience of these would be beneficial.
  • Have good knowledge of back-end development architecture, Web Development technologies and SOA or microservices architecture.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to build effective working relationships with internal teams using collaboration and persuasion skills.
