You will collaborate with architects, developers, and stakeholders, contribute to multi-cluster Kubernetes environments, and promote continuous improvement while complying with security requirements.
Jacobs is a global professional services company working to solve complex challenges and help create a more connected, sustainable world. In our Digital & Data community, you will work alongside specialists in engineering, design, product, data, and delivery to develop meaningful digital solutions for clients and communities. Our multidisciplinary teams combine strategic thinking, human-centred design, and modern engineering practices to deliver services that make a positive difference.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will design, build, automate, and optimise cloud-native platforms and delivery pipelines that support critical digital services. You will work in agile, multidisciplinary teams to create secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments, while helping development teams deliver high-quality services more efficiently.
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with clients, architects, developers, and technical stakeholders on complex business and engineering challenges. You will contribute to cloud adoption, platform modernisation, and legacy workload migration, while championing continuous improvement and practical DevOps ways of working. The position is based in Manchester and supports work in the Digital & Data community, including national security and defence projects.
You will bring demonstrable experience delivering DevOps or platform engineering solutions in agile environments, along with strong AWS expertise and the ability to support cloud-native and serverless architectures. Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or AWS CDK, and building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and modern source control practices, is important.
You should have experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, as well as a strong understanding of logging, monitoring, and observability. Knowledge of cloud security, networking, infrastructure, and high-availability design is also valuable. Experience supporting deployments across Linux and cloud-hosted environments, plus Bash scripting skills, will help you succeed; Python or TypeScript experience is advantageous.
Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to explain technical concepts and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Candidates must be eligible for, or currently hold, SC Security Clearance. Experience with enterprise or multi-cluster Kubernetes environments, Dynatrace, regulated environments, or mentoring engineers would be beneficial. We also value curiosity and a genuine interest in learning emerging technologies and practices.
Design, implement, and maintain secure AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code. Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to increase deployment speed, reliability, and quality. Deploy and manage containerised applications using Kubernetes, Helm, and Docker, and implement observability, monitoring, and alerting that provide useful operational insight.
Collaborate with clients and delivery teams to solve technical and business challenges, support cloud adoption and platform modernisation, and help migrate legacy workloads. Promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement, coach client teams in DevOps practices, and contribute to Jacobs’ Digital & Data community through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and collaboration.
