Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking a DevOps and Automation Engineer (Contract) for a 6‑month engagement outside IR35 in the UK. You will partner with the DevOps and Automation Manager to design and deliver a modern automation roadmap across Windows and RedHat environments, integrating Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes and low‑code platforms while improving CI/CD and deployment orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with IT Delivery Managers and participate in sprint planning to understand project activity and identify DevOps support needs.
• Agree and prioritise project tasks with IT Delivery Manager and DevOps and Automation Manager.
• Provide timely progress updates via Scrum meetings or written reports as requested.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for deployments and troubleshooting.
• Create knowledge articles and other support artefacts for the wider DevOps team.
• Responsible for configuration, release and environment management for multi‑tier estates.
• Support deployments of MSSQL databases, Websites, Services, App services and applications on Windows and RedHat.
• Champion agentic automation and enable end‑to‑end automation with auditable components and humans in the loop.
• Expand Automation‑as‑a‑Service (AaaS) with low‑code platforms to accelerate delivery.
• Modernise CI/CD and environment management with automated testing, security scanning and orchestration using GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines and Octopus Deploy.
• Move towards self‑service provisioning using Terraform and pipeline‑driven automation.
• Implement observability with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry for real‑time insights.
• Embed security by design with automated testing, vulnerability scanning and policy enforcement.
• Promote learning in AI/ML Ops, agentic automation, and cloud‑native development through innovation sprints.
• Utilise Terraform, Ansible, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Octopus Deploy, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus and low‑code platforms to evolve capabilities.
• Coordinate planned outages and environment refreshes with project managers and Test Lead.
