Device Simulation and Design Engineer

We seek a Device Simulation and Design Engineer to enhance our III-V semiconductor design capabilities. This role involves automated optical simulation, design development, and fabrication support. Key tasks include developing simulation techniques (e.g., FDTD, FEM), optimizing structures via machine learning and inverse design, and automating data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and enhance simulation tools for III-V photonic devices.
  2. Provide documentation and train team members on tool usage.
  3. Collaborate with Design, Fabrication, and Test teams to ensure seamless integration.
  4. Design experiments to assess process tolerances.
  5. Contribute to the design and development of III-V photonic components.

Requirements:

  1. PhD in Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years in photonics (industry or academia) focusing on III-V photonic devices.
  3. Expertise in optoelectronic device physics and simulation tools (FDTD, FEM, COMSOL, VPI).
  4. Experience in inverse design methodologies and Python programming.
  5. Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Desired Skills:

  1. Publications/conference participation in the field.
  2. Experience in device characterization and test data correlation.
  3. Hands-on III-V device design (waveguides, lasers, modulators, couplers).
  4. Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
