Are you looking for a role where you can make a meaningful impact every day, using your skills, experience, and compassion to provide high quality patient care?

Imagine living in Cornwall -- a county renowned for its stunning natural beauty, with rugged coastlines, picturesque countryside, and some of the best beaches in the UK. With millions of visitors each year, this could be your opportunity to call Cornwall home and contribute to the wellbeing of our community.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Developmental Band 5 Staff Nurse to develop into Band 6 Senior Mental Health Nurse or Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Longreach House. Based in Redruth, Longreach is an adult acute mental health unit working with service users from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures who are experiencing an acute episode of mental health difficulties.

Our emphasis is on providing a therapeutic environment, offering a holistic approach to treatment in a safe and supported space which promotes rehabilitation and recovery. We work with various professionals, carers and community staff to ensure effective delivery of care and a planned, safe and timely discharge.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be required to take a leadership role on the ward, deputising for the ward manager when required, oversee the day to day running of the ward and be responsible for providing high quality clinical leadership to the in-patient multi-disciplinary team through supervision and direction.

The appointee will be required to work rotational shifts including weekends and bank holidays as necessary, with a flexible manner to ensure a seamless whole service approach.

Safe and effective delivery of care will be expected alongside compliance with The Nursing and Midwifery Councils Code of Professional Conduct.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
