TipTopJob is seeking a Development Vehicle Technician to join a state-of-the-art prototype facility in Gaydon, Warwickshire. You will contribute to proofing, testing and development across ICE and EV platforms, working closely with engineers to validate configurations and performance.

The role involves rotating shifts, 37 hours per week, and a 6-month contract with potential extensions. A City and Guilds/NVQ/IMI Level 3 automotive qualification is essential, with EV/Hybrid Level 3 desirable.

Formación

• Level 3 City and Guilds/NVQ/IMI in automotive discipline (essential).
• EV/Hybrid Level 3 (IMI or equivalent) desirable.
• Capable of interfacing with modern day vehicle electrical systems.
• Extensive hands-on experience of whole vehicle.

Responsabilidades

• Develops and tests whole vehicles including ICE and EV powertrains.
• Performs mechanical, electrical, and trim work during prototype development.
• Reads and interprets engineer drawings and test procedures.
• Captures data, logs issues, and supports engineering improvements.
• Works with engineers to calibrate and verify vehicle performance under different conditions.
• Uses various handheld tools and handles precision components.

Your Role: Development Vehicle Technician

You will be responsible for the proofing, testing and development of whole vehicles including ICE and EV vehicles. Using your Mechanical, Electrical and Trim skills you will assist in the early:stage prototype development process in a state:of:the:art facility working closely with Engineers to ensure accurate testing and development, understanding the why, how and ifs of vehicle mechanics.

Your Working Hours

Weekly Rotating Double Day Shift Pattern: 37 hours per week + Overtime when required.

Early Shift : Monday to Thursday 6:00am : 2:05pm and Friday 6:00am : 12:00pm.

Late Shift : Monday to Thursday 1:55pm : 10:00pm and Friday 11:50am : 5:50pm.

Your Pay And Contract

• A GBP 34.13 per hour, paid via an Umbrella PAYE payroll model.
• 6:month Contract with potential extensions.
• This contract is deemed Inside of IR35.

Please Note: The Umbrella PAYE pay rate stated above is made up of three elements, Hourly pay rate, Holiday pay and Apex Recruitments contribution to the payroll administrators fees.

Your Duties And Responsibilities

• Whole vehicle developments to include:
• Vehicle Dynamics, Braking systems, Suspension, Dampers, Powertrains
• Mechanical and Electrical strip, build, calibration and refit of various systems.
• Working closely with engineers to adapt, calibrate, test and prove out prototype vehicles ensuring they are fit for purpose (e.g. at high speeds, on differing terrains, in hot/cold climates)
• Using all round knowledge of EVs, Hybrid, Petrol and Deisel vehicles
• Applying knowledge of whole vehicle instrumentation on test / pre:production vehicles
• Diagnosis and support logging of issues and engineering improvements
• Reading and interpreting engineer drawings
• Experience of using a variety of handheld tools.
• Experience of working with precision components.

• Electric Vehicle / Hybrid Level 3 (IMI or equivalent) (desirable).

• Good engineering background essential
• Ability to develop good technical solutions to build/ quality issues.
• Knowledge and practical understanding of H and S, C.O.S.H and environmental procedures
• Flexible attitude towards working hours as overtime may be required.
