What Is the Opportunity?

We are seeking a Development Underwriter for our London Branch. You will leverage your underwriting experience in property and casualty to develop relationships and new business in the East of England. You will provide excellent service for new submissions, collaborate with the team, and support renewal business. This role offers flexibility with a hybrid work model and is eligible for a £1,500 new joiner bonus, with referral bonuses available.

What Will You Do?

  1. Underwrite and assess risk to maximize growth and profitability. Make decisions within your authority and provide recommendations.
  2. Negotiate terms and conditions aligning with underwriting standards.
  3. Implement Travelers' underwriting strategies to meet financial targets.
  4. Manage and grow your book of business, maintaining quality and profitability.
  5. Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with standards.
  6. Seek training to enhance underwriting skills.
  7. Build broker and client relationships through visibility and disciplined sales approaches.
  8. Assist in developing and executing sales plans to enhance marketing and sales outside the office.
  9. Collaborate across teams and regions to foster business development.
  10. Provide excellent customer service and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Proven underwriting experience, especially in developing new business.
  • Knowledge of the local insurance market and regulatory environment.
  • Technical underwriting skills and analytical thinking.
  • Intermediate communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills.
  • Customer focus and strong broker relationship skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • ACII qualification is preferred.

What is a Must Have?

  • Experience in Property and Casualty underwriting.
  • Valid driving license.
