Job summary

Hunter Selection is recruiting a Development Technologist for a well-established food manufacturer in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. You will own concept and recipe development, working from brief to launch with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

You should have a degree in Food Science or Chemistry, 3+ years in food manufacturing, strong project management and IT skills (Excel). HACCP beneficial and knowledge of nutrition and compliance would be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related discipline.
• 3+ years in food manufacturing.
• Experience taking products from concept through to launch.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of customer requirements.
• Good kitchen and recipe development skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong IT skills, including Excel.
• HACCP qualification beneficial.
• Knowledge of food labelling legislation advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept and recipe development for new and existing products.
• Work closely with customers to understand briefs and develop product solutions.
• Prepare samples and support bench, pilot and factory trials.
• Create and maintain accurate product development documentation.
• Ensure products meet nutritional, technical and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Technical, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
• Support product launches and continuous improvement projects.
• Assist with customer complaints and investigations where formulation is a contributing factor.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and compliance.
