Job summary

Tesco Stores Limited is seeking a Development Technologist to support the delivery of quality and safety policies across our products. You will assess risk, support product development with suppliers, and drive the health and responsible sourcing agenda to ensure safe, legal, and responsibly sourced products.

Join a team that collaborates with suppliers and colleagues to monitor quality, manage risk, and deliver continuous improvements while upholding Tesco standards and values.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or qualifications in a related discipline.
• Knowledge of product development, including end-to-end proposition development and relevant product knowledge to ensure products are safe, legal, and responsibly sourced.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain considerations.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders effectively.
• Project and critical path management skills, with the ability to deliver against deadlines.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, including data analysis and interpretation.
• Good IT and systems skills, with the ability to utilise relevant tools and technologies effectively.

Responsibilities

• Risk assessing my products to be safe, legal, responsibly sourced and meet the Tesco rules & policies.
• Supporting the product development process with my NWT & suppliers, ensuring quality for customers and that our products are formulated in line with our product rules, corporate initiatives & brand guidelines.
• Supporting the delivery our our health and responsible sourcing agenda across my supply base.
• Managing my products to always be great quality through on-going monitoring and improvements.
• Supporting the management of risk in our supply chains, from source, ingredients and raw materials, processing, manufacturing and Tesco routes to market.
• Supporting the supplier strategy for my area, ensuring we use the best suppliers & sources.
• Supporting the development of supplier capability through collaborative engagement, setting clear goals and measuring progress.
• Responding to complaints and incidents quickly and effectively, ensuring stakeholders are aware and relevant action is taken to protect customers and Tesco.
• I challenge myself to learn new skills and keep abreast of the latest thinking in my industry to help drive innovation.
• Developing and coaching my direct reports and supporting them to be their best.
• Following our Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and due diligence. I speak up if something isn't right.

Job description

We are on the lookout for a Development Technologist to join our Group Quality function here at Tesco. You will support the delivery of our stringent quality & safety policies and standard, ensuring our products are safe, legal and responsibly sourced, through proactive management of suppliers and supporting the product development process.

• Risk assessing my products to be safe, legal, responsibly sourced and meet the Tesco rules & policies.
• Supporting the product development process with my NWT & suppliers, ensuring quality for customers and that our products are formulated in line with our product rules, corporate initiatives & brand guidelines.
• Supporting the delivery our our health and responsible sourcing agenda across my supply base.
• Managing my products to always be great quality through on-going monitoring and improvements.
• Supporting the management of risk in our supply chains, from source, ingredients and raw materials, processing, manufacturing and Tesco routes to market. (safety, business & reputational risks).
• Supporting the supplier strategy for my area, ensuring we use the best suppliers & sources.
• Supporting the development of supplier capability through collaborative engagement, setting clear goals and measuring progress. I do this by having Joint Quality Plans (JQPs) in place with all relevant suppliers.
• Responding to complaints and incidents quickly and effectively, ensuring stakeholders are aware and relevant action is taken to protect customers and Tesco.
• I challenge myself to learn new skills and keep abreast of the latest thinking in my industry to help drive innovation.
• Developing and coaching my direct reports and supporting them to be their best.
