TipTopJob in Shepton Mallet is recruiting a Development Technologist to join our innovative NPD team. You will own concept and recipe development from brief to launch, collaborating with customers, suppliers and internal teams to deliver exciting food products.

The ideal candidate holds a Food Science related degree, 3+ years in food manufacturing, strong project management and Excel skills, and is committed to high standards of safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry or related discipline is required.
• Strong project management and organisational skills are essential.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead concept and recipe development for new and existing products.
• Work closely with customers to understand briefs and develop product solutions.
• Prepare samples and support bench, pilot and factory trials.
• Create and maintain accurate product development documentation.
• Ensure products meet nutritional, technical and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Technical, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
• Support product launches and continuous improvement projects.
• Assist with customer complaints and investigations where formulation is a factor.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and compliance.

A well:established and award:winning food manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Development Technologist to join its innovative NPD team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a food professional with product development experience to take ownership of the concept and recipe development stage of new and existing products. Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will help bring exciting food products from concept through to launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead concept and recipe development for new and existing products.
• Work closely with customers to understand briefs and develop product solutions.
• Prepare samples and support bench, pilot and factory trials.
• Create and maintain accurate product development documentation.
• Ensure products meet nutritional, technical and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with Technical, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
• Support product launches and continuous improvement projects.
• Assist with customer complaints and investigations where formulation is a contributing factor.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, quality and compliance.

About You

• Degree or qualification in Food Science, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Previous food manufacturing experience, ideally 3+ years.
• Experience taking products from concept through to launch.
• Strong project management and organisational skills.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of customer requirements.
• Good kitchen and recipe development skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Strong IT skills, including Excel.
• HACCP qualification beneficial.
• Knowledge of food labelling legislation would be advantageous.
