Job summary

Dayshape is hiring a Tech Lead in Edinburgh to guide a product engineering team focused on scalable, AI-enhanced resource management platforms. You’ll own features end-to-end, mentor engineers, and influence architecture while collaborating with product managers to shape the roadmap.

You’ll split time between technical planning and delivery, with line-management responsibilities as the team grows. Hybrid working from the UK is supported.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a software engineering team of 2–6 developers.
  • Strong grounding in architecture, design decisions, and technical ownership.
  • Experience guiding product features from prioritisation to delivery.
  • Familiarity with agile development and large-scale web apps.

Responsibilities

About the role

We'vecome a long way ina short time, butthere'sstill so much more we can do. We have grand ambitions to makeDayshapethe mostusable,scalable,flexibleand rapid to deploy solution on the market, andwe’renot there yet.

Our tech leads are great with people, helping to elevate their team and the work they do, as well as being able to get stuck in technically. This role is a mix of technical and people leadership, leading a product engineering team that willoperatein a particular area of the product.

Whatyou’lldo

As a Tech Lead, you will lead, and work collaboratively with, your cross-functional team to plan and deliver new features and enhancements. You will take ownership of features and technical initiatives and make sure they are successful.

The time split between technical planning and delivery,and line-management will depend on the size of your team. Initially, as we build up the teams, you will be more hands on,adjusting the split as the size of the team increases.

In this role you will:

  • Manage asoftware engineering team, line managing2-6software engineers, including 1:1s and supporting personal development planning.
  • Provideexpertiseand input into our architecture, design, and technology decisions.
  • Work as part of the Engineering leadership team toidentify, set, and driveobjectivesand key results.
  • Work with your team's product manager (and the rest of the team) on prioritisation, scoping of product features
  • Analyse, code, test, and release new product features, enhancements, and improvements
  • Assistwith technical, functional and design activities with our professional services team, product managers, and customers
  • Help us manage the entire lifecycle of features and product releases
  • Interview and hireadditionalsoftware engineers
  • Champion our culture of learning, development, cross-companycollaborationand teamwork.
About you
  • Direct line management experience is notessential,butyou must be able todemonstrateexperienceas a leader. Emotional intelligence,cross team collaborationas well as the abilitytohelp alignteamprioritiesare key parts of this role.
  • Strong full-stack developer, ideally closely matching our tech stack.Suitable candidates will be either experiencedgeneralists orsomewhat focusedon thefront-endpart of our tech stack.Our standard tech stackis .NET (framework & Core),AzureSQLServerand theAzureplatform, with a browser-based SPA UI in Vue.js and vanilla JS/CSS/HTML.
  • Great at breaking down big tasks into small chunks, solving trickyproblemsand tackling risks
  • Knowledgeable about a range of technologies, and quick to learn
  • Motivated by learning new things and using those to make a positive difference
  • Comfortable challenging and raising issues at any level
  • Great at asking awkward questions, kindly
  • An excellent, kind, and supportive communicator (who often finds yourself un-crossing wires between your colleagues)
  • Able to consider the broader impact of your design and coding decisions and those of others
  • Used to working with agile development teams on large software products

Whatyou’llget
  • Starting salarybetween£67,000and£80,000, dependent on experience, with earning potential in the role up to £85,500.

Working Details

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week). We typically work from 09:00 - 17:30 from Monday to Friday, though we can be flexible around this, just let us know.

We’re ideally looking for someone in/around Edinburgh, able to work on a hybrid basis between home and our Haymarket office. We don't mandate required office days, but we find that most of the team enjoy working from the office 2-3 days a week to connect with their team and other Dayshapers and to make use of space, and for meetings and collaboration.We are open to considering remote for the right candidate, as long as you are based in the UK.
