Job description
Development / Project Manager - Building Safety & Remediation

Location: Essex

Salary: 50,000 to 70,000 + package

A leading specialist in building safety and remediation is seeking a Development/Project Manager to help deliver complex works across a residential portfolio. This role is more aligned to a Project Manager than a traditional Development Manager and requires someone confident navigating contracts, stakeholders, and legal processes.

The Role

You'll be instrumental in taking projects from pre-contract through to agreement, ensuring all works are approved by the relevant responsible entities. The properties are not owned by the organisation, but there is a legal obligation to carry out the works, so clear communication, coordination, and stakeholder management are essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the process of getting projects into contract
  • Draft and support creation of new contracts
  • Liaise with responsible entities to gain approvals for remedial works
  • Work closely with internal teams - technical, commercial, and build
  • Lead project coordination and monitor progress
  • Manage significant legal and contractual elements
  • Engage with clients, housing associations and local authorities
  • Interface regularly with external stakeholders and partners
What We're Looking For
  • Strong people skills with proven ability to manage clients and public-sector stakeholders
  • Confident working independently and thinking proactively
  • Experience in housing associations, local authorities, or main contracting
  • Contract and/or legal understanding is highly desirable
  • Employer's Agent (EA) background would be a strong advantage
  • Ability to navigate complex approval and compliance processes
  • A collaborative communicator who can build relationships across teams
Additional Information

There will be a learning curve of around three months to fully absorb the scope and processes, so someone adaptable and quick to pick things up will thrive here.

If you're a capable Project Manager with a commercial or legal mindset and can lead with confidence across multiple stakeholders, this is an excellent opportunity to make an impact in an important sector.
