Planning Team Leader (Minerals and Waste) - North West - Permanent - Rate Negotiable

Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
About the Opportunity:
Are you passionate about creating sustainable, thriving communities? A well-regarded planning service in the North West is seeking experienced Planning Team Leaders across multiple disciplines, including mainstream Development Management and a dedicated Minerals & Waste team.
These pivotal leadership roles involve managing planning officers to deliver efficient, customer-focused planning services. You'll take the lead on strategic applications, contribute to policy development, and drive forward service improvements in line with statutory and local objectives.
Key Areas of Focus:
·Development Management operations
·Area-wide leadership for the Minerals and Waste planning team, including oversight of complex applications and team management
Key Responsibilities:
·Oversee the assessment of planning proposals, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and high service performance
·Provide leadership to planning officers, promoting professional development and team cohesion
·Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure operational efficiency
·Contribute to the preparation and delivery of Local Plan policies and associated planning documents
·Build and maintain strong partnerships with developers, stakeholders, councillors, and local communities
About You:
·Degree-qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
·Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI)
·Strong track record in planning, with team leadership or supervisory experience
·Knowledgeable in UK planning legislation, with particular value placed on minerals and waste planning experience (for relevant role)
·Skilled communicator with a collaborative, customer-focused approach
