The Transformational Programmes department delivers Teach First's programmes across all areas of England. We support, teach and develop programme members, trainee teachers their mentors via the delivery of teacher development and leadership programmes. We want all those programme members on our programmes to successfully complete our programmes and go on to be engaged ambassadors of our vision.

As Development Lead – Secondary (South-West), you will have expertise in Secondary education, and teacher education. This role will bring design and delivery of our Secondary programme together ensuring programme delivery quality and fidelity. You’ll have a designated portfolio of trainees or programme members working closely with other support roles to create high quality experiences which develop the next generation of impactful teachers and leaders; engages our programme members in their development, their community and in our social purpose and mission to ensure all children are able to achieve their potential.

We are looking for two new Development Leads – Secondary (South-West). These roles will have a portfolio of schools based in Devon and Cornwall. Start date for this role is 1 September 2025.

  • Do you have QTS and are you an experienced practitioner and / or have school leadership experience?
  • Do you have excellent phase knowledge (Secondary), understand outstanding classroom pedagogy and is your knowledge of the Teachers' Standards and Core Content Framework outstanding?
  • Have you developed, mentored and coached inexperienced teachers within an ITT, (Initial Teacher Training) route or ECF (Early Careers Framework), for at least two years. e.g. PGCE, Schools Direct, Teach First etc?
  • In non-London regions: There are travel requirements for this role. It is expected that non-London applicants hold a full UK driving licence with access to their own car for travel between schools/events.
