Job summary

PE Global is seeking a Development Engineer – Fuel systems in Peterborough for a 12-month contract. The role is on-site, Monday to Friday, core presence 09:00–16:00, with competitive hourly rates (£30.63 PAYE / £41.57 Umbrella rising to £35.38 PAYE / £48.02 Umbrella depending on experience).

The successful candidate will plan and deliver air/fuel system development, lead design reviews, collaborate with suppliers, and manage risks through FMEA and DVP&R, with strong emphasis on APQP and Lean

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering or related discipline.
• 6–8 years engineering or relevant experience.
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and engine components.
• Experience with APQP, FMEA and DVP&R is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Communicate project status to peers, stakeholders and management.

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Development Engineer – Fuel systems for a leading multi-national manufacturing client based in Peterborough.

Role is 12 months contract, 5 days on site, paying £30.63ph PAYE or £41.57ph Umbrella up to £35.38ph PAYE or £48.02ph Umbrella depending on experience.

Monday to Friday.

Core presence expected approximately between 09:00 and 16:00.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver air/fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality goals.
• Communicate project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders and management.
• Lead design reviews to gain cross-functional business support for new designs, supplier nomination and capital investment.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP.
• Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
• Investigate and resolve technical issues using 8D methodology.
• Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer needs and design requirements.
• Write and review technical information and technical reports to support production design release.
• Collaborate with global teams to implement engineering solutions at worldwide facilities.
• Reflect on lessons learnt, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent knowledge/experience).
• 6-8 years of engineering or relevant experience.
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components and/or systems and component development, preference for diesel engines fuel systems experience.
• Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes.
• Self-motivated and able to manage and deliver complex projects to meet commitments.
• Effective communication skills and teamwork.
• Expertise in high pressure fuel systems would be beneficial.
• Expertise in fuel systems, air systems, EGR systems, performance, data analysis is highly advantageous.
• Experience of leading and participating in APQP, FMEA and DVP&R is highly advantageous.
• Engineering experience gained in the off-highway diesel engine sector highly advantageous.
