Job Title:Development Engineer

Location: Burton upon Trent (Some travel required to travel to Ischebeck Offices)

Are you a talented design engineer with a passion for innovation and product development? We’re looking for a Development Engineer to join our expert team and play a key role in shaping the future of formwork, scaffolding, and structural products for the construction industry.

About the Role:

In this hands-on role, you’ll be involved in developing new and improved products from concept to manufacture, including producing technical drawings, performing structural calculations, and supporting prototype testing. You’ll work across teams, engage with clients and key stakeholders to ensure consistent quality and performance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and develop new products and components for hire and sale
  • Create high-quality fabrication drawings and documentation
  • Carry out structural and stress calculations (including hand calculations)
  • Lead design improvements based on customer requirements
  • Support the production of test programmes and analyse results
  • Ensure quality through inspections and onsite visits
  • Support cross-functional collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a relevant engineering or product design role
  • Strong understanding of structural principles, steel fabrication, assembly methods, and safety standards
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, Microsoft Office, and structural/FEA tools such as Rstab, RFEM, Nastran or ANSYS
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • BEng or MEng in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered membership (or working towards) of a relevant professional body
