About Electric Land

Electric Land is a real estate and infrastructure investor and developer of powered land for Europe's energy and digital transition. Founded in 2015 as Europe's first energy ground lease platform, we're backed by Stonepeak, a global institutional investor, and work from offices in London and Hamburg.

We operate across three business lines. Electric Land Investors (ELI) is our land investment platform, acquiring land and leases for renewable energy and storage projects. Electric Land & Power (ELP) develops battery storage, flexible generation, solar, wind and EV charging sites, and has delivered 22 projects to date (1.5GW), with a further 40 projects and 4.5GW in the pipeline. Electric Land Digital (ELD) develops data centres across the UK and Europe.

About the role

We are looking for an organised and proactive Development Associate to support the development of energy infrastructure projects from early-stage opportunity through development and investment decision.

The main focus of the role is project coordination: taking ownership of administration across planning, grid, technical, legal and commercial workstreams, working closely with internal development teams and external consultants, advisers, DNOs, solicitors, investors and potential partners. Alongside this, you'll research and report on new business opportunities for the development team, helping identify and screen potential projects and partnerships. This is a genuine opportunity to get exposure across the whole business, not just one discipline: financial, commercial, technical and legal. You'll also have the autonomy, backed by the support of the development team, to explore new project and business opportunities and take ownership of them through to investment decision. You'll also get some exposure to our development business in Germany, with occasional travel in Europe.

You'll also work directly with our Senior Development Manager to help deliver a 20MW gas peaking facility, our first pilot project under Electric Land Switch, our flexible generation platform. The project is under construction, and you'll get hands‑on exposure to what it takes to take a live energy project through to commercial operations (COD) — contractor and contract management, the project programme, and reporting.

This role would suit someone with 1–3 years' experience in energy, infrastructure, property development, project management or professional services who is looking to take on increasing responsibility within project development.

Key responsibilitiesPlanning, technical, legal and grid support
  • Coordinate with planning consultants and technical advisers to ensure deliverables meet project requirements and deadlines, and manage planning application processes, including tracking milestones and discharge of condition schedules.
  • Review and manage the coordination of legal drafting and commercial agreements with solicitors and external legal advisers.
  • Instruct contractors and consultants on planning and easement drawing requirements, review drawings against project requirements, and support delivery of permits and easements.
  • Coordinate grid administration and technical submissions, liaise with DNOs, and maintain accurate records of grid applications, agreements and key milestones.
Project, financial and document management
  • Work with the development team to help formulate project development processes, strategies, timelines and budgets, and own and maintain project planning and action trackers.
  • Support the Senior Development Manager on delivery and construction of the company's pilot own‑and‑operate energy project.
  • Assist with maintaining project cost trackers and monitoring spend against budget, and support the collation and processing of contractor and adviser invoices.
  • Support the preparation of monthly project reporting materials for the development team.
  • Coordinate project due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and manage project virtual data rooms (VDRs), keeping documents uploaded, organised and up to date.
  • Manage external technical, legal and planning consultants to achieve project deliverables, and coordinate site visits and external meetings.
  • Research and report on new business opportunities for Electric Land & Power (ELP) and Electric Land Investors (ELI), and identify potential development opportunities through Electric Land's existing portfolio.
  • Conduct initial screening of potential development opportunities against commercial, technical, planning and grid criteria, and prepare concise opportunity summaries and recommendations for the development team.
  • Support the negotiation and execution of commercial agreements such as land deals, easements and project sales, working closely with the legal and commercial teams.
  • Support the initiation of new business opportunities, including initial outreach to potential partners, DNOs, landowners and consultants.
Skills and experienceEssential
  • 1–3 years' experience in project coordination, project development, energy, infrastructure, property development, engineering, professional services or a similar environment.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Able to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and external stakeholders at once.
  • Excellent attention to detail and document management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident liaising with external advisers and consultants.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Proactive and persistent approach to following up actions and deliverables.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate with the development team as required.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable, given occasional site visits.
  • Comfortable with occasional travel within Europe.
  • Experience in the UK energy or electricity sector.
  • Understanding of UK planning and/or grid connection processes.
  • Experience with DNOs and electricity network documentation.
  • Experience with VDRs and due diligence processes.
  • Experience with Capacity Market processes or registers.
  • Experience coordinating technical, planning or legal consultants.
  • Understanding of renewable energy, BESS, flexible generation or other energy infrastructure.
