Brambles’ Digital team seeks a Software Architect to define, design, and implement major parts of the software architecture, collaborating with architects and engineers. Real-time IoT tracking systems form the core, spanning code, data models and module integration to deliver high-performing business applications embedded in Brambles’ ecosystem.
The role emphasizes modular architecture, 99.9% uptime, and adaptability to evolving requirements, delivering scalable solutions across the enterprise.
Define, design, and implement major parts of the software architecture for the Digital team in tight collaboration with other architects and engineering team members.
Primarily focusing on real-time IoT tracking systems, the work performed is on all levels of detail from the review of individual code elements to data model and component design to module integration scenarios, with the intent to build a high-performing application that is embedded in the fabric of business applications run by Brambles.
Global Research & develop significant parts of a solution which is a cornerstone for the digitization of Brambles
This position is responsible for analyzing, optimizing and enhancing our real-time IoT framework, and building and maintaining support for current and future devices that Brambles uses to monitor and improve the supply chains of Brambles’ customers.
The success and viability of the real-time IoT framework requires a well-defined modular and architecture focusing on performance and semantic adaptability, especially considering the long lifetime of the system, the need for 99.9% uptime and the evolving nature of the requirements.
Monitoring, maintaining and improving application performance levels.
Ensuring backwards compatibility and seamless upgrades to historic data with minimal downtime. Building understanding of complex algorithms and identifying ways to optimize and improve performance.
Substantial software development and design expertise with large and complex systems, ideally in enterprise software, real‑time applications and specifically around supply chain management or geographical information systems
Formal: At least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, science, engineering, statistics or mathematics
Beyond this baseline, software development experience and proven success is more important than formal education. However, large and complex systems also arise in university research, so a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. can be a plus.
