3 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary:
• The Development and Acquisitions Officer plays a key role in delivering affordable housing solutions through development, acquisitions, and disposals.
• This includes managing projects from inception to completion, working with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to the regeneration and redevelopment of housing estates.
• The postholder will also be responsible for identifying and securing housing opportunities to meet both temporary and permanent accommodation needs.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Assist in identifying, assessing, and delivering potential sites and properties for affordable housing development.
• Support the management of new build housing projects, including procurement, contract oversight, and delivery monitoring.
• Undertake financial viability assessments and feasibility studies for prospective housing schemes.
• Contribute to the preparation of funding bids and secure investment through agencies such as Homes England.
• Work closely with legal, planning, procurement, and housing partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality housing solutions.
• Support estate regeneration projects and the review of key housing policies and strategies.
• Purchase and dispose of properties on the open market, including negotiation, valuation, and legal completion.
• Engage with stakeholders, including town/parish councils and local communities, to support inclusive and sustainable housing initiatives.
• Deputise for the Senior Development and Acquisitions Officer when required.
Skills/Experience: • Experience in affordable housing development, regeneration, or housing acquisitions.
• Proven ability to manage projects to tight deadlines, including budget and contract management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain effective partnerships across sectors.
• Familiarity with planning processes, housing funding mechanisms, and development appraisal.
• Ability to undertake site visits and property viewings across the region.
• Good working knowledge of construction standards, building design, and Health & Safety regulations.
• Proficient in report writing, data analysis, and use of IT systems in a housing/development context.
Additional Information: • Degree/HND or equivalent experience in housing, property, planning, or related field.
• Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle for work use.
• This is a full-time role (37 hours per week), based on-site three days per week.
• Candidates must be able to travel around Kettering, Corby, Thrapston, and Wellingborough.
