This role allows home-based work with occasional travel to offices in Solihull and Worcester.

Job description
Overview

Are you a detail-driven accountant with a strong understanding of housing development? We're looking for a highly motivated Development Accountant to play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant, and insightful financial support across our growing new homes programme.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with teams across Development, Sales, Asset Management, Treasury, and Investment to manage scheme accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Be responsible for intercompany accounting, covering transactions with development Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), transfer pricing, intercompany margins, and consolidation adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for all development schemes.
  • Prepare monthly development financial reports, including variance analysis and reforecasts.
  • Monitor and report on capital expenditure and funding allocations.
  • Manage intercompany accounting processes related to development activities.
  • Support and assist in driving forward continuous business improvement and change initiatives.
  • Support the preparation of development scheme appraisals and outturns.
Qualifications
  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with strong post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in development, housing, or a related field.
  • Strong accounting experience with a solid understanding of the full balance sheet, development finance, and housing sector operations.
  • Proven experience with intercompany accounting, SPVs, and managing capital investment programmes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence using financial systems and data analytics tools.
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
  • A detail-focused mindset, with the ability to see the wider business impact.
