Job Description

We're recruiting for a Junior Life Medical Underwriter to join us. We're offering a competitive base salary. Reviewing customer applications to identify risk factors to assess whether we can offer Life, Critical Illness Cover and Income Protection applications.

We offer both home based or hybrid opportunities depending on location, so will be happy to discuss at the stage of application.

What you'll be doing:

1. Accurately assessing and documenting life and disability risks by reviewing applications and deciding which terms, if any, can be offered up to the value based on your autonomy level.
2. Addressing customer requirements in an efficient and professional manner and ensuring that the agreed service levels are met or exceeded so that exceptional customer experience is delivered.
3. Ensuring any requests for further information are appropriate and accurate and commensurate with the risk being assessed, ensuring the customer journey is not impacted unnecessarily.
4. Identifying complaints and escalating to an authorised complaints handler so that they are acted upon quickly and root causes highlighted to ensure compliance with complaints response time limits.
5. Taking ownership of maintaining an excellent knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements.
6. Communicating with internal, external customers and third parties in a professional and efficient manner via all methods of communication, ensuring customer satisfaction is maximised and expectations met by obtaining and giving the correct information.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

1. Experience underwriting protection products.
2. Thorough understanding of the risk factors for mortality and morbidity, as well as financial underwriting.
3. Extensive knowledge of all protection products.
4. Understanding of legislation and regulatory requirements would be preferable.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
