Introduction

Strategic Estates is responsible for the care, improvement, and renewal of Parliament's iconic buildings. As custodians of the Parliamentary Estate, the team operates in a unique environment where innovation, modernisation, and conservation meet. Working across both the House of Commons and House of Lords, we deliver a large portfolio of construction and improvement projects within a challenging, high-profile World Heritage Site. The Strategic Estates Portfolio Management Office (SE PMO) supports this vital work, leading best practice in portfolio management and ensuring projects deliver maximum benefit to Parliament and the public.

The Role

We are looking for a Developing Portfolio Coordinator to join the SE PMO team. This is a developmental role, designed to support a wide range of portfolio management activities and provide hands-on experience across the change portfolio of estates-related projects and programmes. You will work across the team to help embed business case development, benefits tracking, baseline management and change control.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Supporting information gathering and analysis to ensure reports are credible and data-informed
  • Providing administrative and secretariat support for meetings, workshops, and governance boards
  • Maintaining digital tools, SharePoint sites, and documentation to support project delivery teams
  • Supporting internal facilitation services, including logistics, communications, and workshop coordination
  • Assisting in benefits management activities and helping the team report on the impact of portfolio investments.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • An understanding of project, programme, or portfolio management and the ability to support delivery improvements
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and professionally
  • Effective organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise, and meet deadlines
  • A collaborative approach to teamwork, with the confidence to support and contribute across different functions
  • Confidence in using project management tools and systems (such as Microsoft Office and SharePoint) and a willingness to learn new platforms
  • A recognised qualification in one of the following project management methodologies (e.g. Prince2, APM, MoP, MSP, Agile, P3O, Better Business Cases Foundation, APMG Managing Benefits Foundation etc.) desirable but not essential.
