Job summary

We're on a journey to transform YBS into a modern, data-driven organisation. We are looking for a Data Systems Lead (internally known as DevOps Engineer) to join our Leeds and Bradford-based Enterprise Data - Technical Solutions team. As our new Data Systems Lead, you will take technical ownership and management of data function owned servers, software (on-prem and cloud), and licenses to support enterprise data management activities such as data modelling, metadata management, data lineage, master data management, BI reporting, data quality management, data provisioning, and privacy management. These include Erwin, SAP Business Objects, Data Services, SAS, and other platforms.


What you'll do
  1. Own and maintain data function software, servers, and licenses, ensuring smooth operation of data management services.
  2. Monitor server and software health proactively, perform routine housekeeping, and manage license access requests.
  3. Serve as a liaison between software owners, IT teams, and vendors, raising support tickets and coordinating troubleshooting.
  4. Coordinate and deploy upgrades, patches, hot-fixes, SSL certificates, APIs, and lead UAT activities.
  5. Lead software deployment and decommissioning activities.
  6. Verify data connector functionality and data lineage accuracy between data warehouses, operational data stores, and databases, with a good understanding of ETL/ELT and BI technologies.
  7. Collaborate with software vendors, business owners, and users, demonstrating excellent communication skills.

About you

You should have experience or understanding in:

  • Technical maintenance of servers, software, and licenses (including Linux commands, Apache Tomcat, Windows scripting).
  • Applying software updates, patches, connectors, SSL certificates, APIs, etc.
  • Erwin Data Modeler, SAP Business Objects, deployment of on-prem and cloud software.
  • Visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • MDM tools (e.g., STIBO), Metadata Management (e.g., Erwin DI Suite), Data Privacy tools (e.g., OneTrust).
  • Active Directory and LDAP integration.
  • Supporting vendor relationships and support activities.
  • Understanding of modern data management requirements.
