Job summary

Serco is seeking a Detention Custody Officer and Physical Education Instructor at Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre. The role combines security duties with delivering physical activities and wellbeing programmes in a demanding environment.

You will supervise residents, lead fitness and recreation sessions, and support education and centre operations. The role offers training, development, and progression within Serco's public service network.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification (or equivalent) is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Basic computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
• Experience in a people-focused environment is desirable.
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service is essential.

• Supervising residents and maintaining safety and security across the centre.
• Delivering structured fitness, sports and recreational activities.
• Encouraging participation and promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
