Job summary

Mitie Care & Custody is seeking a Detention Custody Officer for Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre. You will work in a secure, high‑risk environment delivering care and custody services, building positive staff–resident relationships, and supporting residents through their process.

The role involves 4-on/4-off shifts (including days and nights), full training, and ongoing development. Applicants must meet critical nationality and DBS requirements and be flexible to cover unfolding needs.

Qualifications

• UK citizenship or eligible to work in the UK.
• Valid in-date passport with no stay restrictions.
• Full UK manual driving licence with no bans in 5 years.
• Willingness to undergo Enhanced DBS and vetting checks.

Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end management of residents’ needs until case outcomes.
• Promote welfare, safety, and dignity in a high-risk environment.
• Maintain calm under pressure and build positive staff–resident relationships.
